Revision Tips for Last-Minute Exams

Feeling a bit overwhelmed with exams coming up next week! Anyone got some effective last-minute revision tips? I'm trying to stay calm but it's starting to feel like there's not enough time. How do you prioritise what to revise when time is super short?

The first step is to work out what you already have in terms of revision materials and how confident you feel with the material. Try and find premade revision materials if you can: for example on Quizlet or StudySmarter. Do some practise papers and mark them which will help to diagnose some last minute issues. How well do you feel you have revised so far?

Thank you so much for the advice! I’ve made a rough plan of what I have, but I definitely need to be more organised. I’ll check out Quizlet and do a few practice papers like you suggested.Honestly, I feel about 50/50 some topics are okay, but others still feel a bit shaky. Hoping these last few days will help pull it together!

Hi @OliverOoo

I’ve definitely been in this position more times than I can count, so I completely understand how overwhelming it can feel. I thought I’d share a few things that have really worked for me when I’ve had a lot to catch up on.

First, I find it really helpful to make a revision timetable—not something too strict, but something flexible that you can tweak as you go. I also set “safety deadlines,” which means I aim to finish a task by a certain date, but give myself a bit of extra time just in case. It takes the pressure off and helps me stay on track.

Try breaking your tasks into smaller, manageable chunks. When everything is just swirling around in your head, it can feel like too much—but having it laid out visually can make things feel much more doable.

A good study environment is also key. Try to find somewhere without too many distractions or loud noises. If your phone is a big distraction (mine definitely is), I’d recommend using a focus app—I personally use one called Flora, and it really helps me stay off my phone.

If you're short on time, make a list of all the topics or tasks you need to get through. Then grab three highlighter colours—green for what you’re confident with, yellow for what you’re unsure about, and red for what you really need to work on. This helps you prioritise and focus your energy where it's needed most.

Hope this helps, and best of luck—you’ve got this!
