York St John - St John Central

I was just wondering if anyone was in flat 204 in St John Central for York St John University. Would love to hear from you!

Hi Rachael_W!

I'm Alex, a second year student at YSJ. You might have seen me around replying to other posts about St John Central, as I lived there in my first year. If you have any questions about SJC I'm more than happy to answer them honestly! I hope you find your flatmates and that you enjoy your time there as much as I did

Hi there!

I just wanted to add onto Alex's answer, that it's quite common for people to use the official YSJ fresher's page on Facebook to find flatmates! If you don't hear back from anyone here, it might be worth trying there too!

Hi, I have a few questions I haven't seen answers for yet. First was what are the rules like on decorating your room at SJC? For example can I use blu tack or command strips? Second was in your experience are the room very dark - I know its a weird one but I really value natural light so was just wondering. Thanks!

I think blue tack is a no but you can use command strips and the rooms are pretty light if youre facing the right direction and not too low apparently

Hey, sorry for the late response on this!

When I was in SJC, you could use pretty much anything - my wall already had a few bits of paint coming off from previous students using blue tac in the past, and I didn’t get charged for it when I moved out or anything. During fresher’s week, there’s a poster/decor sale in the Creative Centre hosted by the university and they sell white tac (less likely to damage walls than blu tac) so I assume they’re fine with that!

In terms of the natural light, my room was north-facing on the fourth floor, so I didn’t get any direct sunlight in my room but I still got a lot of bright daylight because the windows are pretty huge! The kitchen even more so.

Hope this was helpful
