Ucl east students for room swap

Hi, I have been allocated a single en suite for £296 at One Pool Street but will be studying Medicine at the Bloomsbury Campus this September
- if you are a student looking for accommodation closer to UCL East and have been allocated a Bloomsbury accommodation or studying a degree with less contact hours and wouldn’t mind being further from the Bloomsbury Campus!

Please get in touch and let me know if we can swap rooms!!

Hi I’m in the exact same position as you and also doing medicine! Do you know how exactly it works if we find someone who is willing to swap rooms with us? Do we just contact UCL

Also in the same position. I’m not sure why this has happened, particularly with early applications…

Are u med too? I was thinking if we all don’t get a room swap we could all commute together for the first couple of weeks

This process is controlled by UCL and opens in October.

So if we know someone that wants to swap with us are we not allowed to do that?

I am not entirely sure, you will have to ask UCL.

If all the med students are being awarded One Pool then is it possible that you have some part of the course being conducted at UCL East.

This is how a swap works: you get a student who is willing to swap accommodation with you. The room swap application opens in September. Both of you need to fill the application from the accommodation portal. The form is simple and would ask if you have another student willing to swap , you select yes and fill in their details.

If you already have another student then the application is straightforward and depending on how busy the accommodation office is you will get the swap between 2 hrs to a week.

If you don't find anyone willing to swap then you can still fill in the form and say 'No' to another student option. You can then fill in 5 preferences. Unlike the initial accommodation application this time you can name your halls. So whatever halls and room type you want.

If UCL has a space then you get it otherwise you will be waitlisted.

I hope this helps.

Also I’m not sure if that’s the reason. Also one pool street only has en-suites and not all the med students would want that. I think people with other courses at Bloomsbury also got one pool street.

Hey! I applied for accommodation at UCL and I’ll be studying at the East campus, but when I applied, One Pool Street wasn’t an option on the site, so I ended up putting all my preferences in Bloomsbury. I’d really rather not stay there though 😅
I haven’t heard back with an offer yet, but if I do end up with a Bloomsbury accom, would you maybe be up for doing a swap (if that’s allowed)? Just thought I’d check in case it works out for anyone 🙂 Feel free to pm me xx
