Is it too late to apply as a GCSE private candidate?

I'm in year 10 and am fluent in Urdu and wanted to do it in school as a GCSE, however my teacher told me today it won't be possible as she can't find an examiner. She also said it is possible to apply as a private candidate but I'm not sure if it too late now because GCSE week is about to start.

It might not be too late to apply as a private candidate, but it depends on the exam board and the deadlines they have set. Typically, registration for private candidates closes a few months before the exam period, so you’ll want to check with the exam board or your teacher for the exact cutoff dates. Since you’re fluent in Urdu, it’s great that you’re looking to do it as a GCSE, but finding an examiner is definitely a crucial part of the process. I’d recommend reaching out to local exam centers to see if they’re still accepting private candidates, as some may have different registration deadlines or availability. It’s always worth asking directly!
