UCL or Sheffield (undergrad)

Hi, so I have offers for Urban Studies and Planning at Sheffield, and Urban Planning, Design and Management at UCL for 2025 entry and I'm completely torn on what to do. Time's really running out to decide! I love Sheffield, I've been twice, loved the open day, loved the city, could really see myself there. But I also can't ignore the prestige of UCL and the course there has more creative elements which cater to me as a creative person. I live about an hour away from London (I go all the time too) but would still live there if I went to UCL as my area has really bad transport links, so I'm really worried about London's cost of living, and I've also heard things about it being harder to make friends there? I want to give UCL a fair chance as obviously it's an amazing uni, but I never got to look around on an offer holder/open day so I'm worried I'm naturally leaning towards Sheffield as I've seen the campus. If anyone takes one of these courses or has any insight on UCL student life I would appreciate the help as I'm so stuck!

I’m pretty much in the same position as you but for architecture/engineering. I’m picking UCL, even though i’ve never been to the actual university before. I live on the outskirts and i’m gonna move to London campus despite it being expensive. I loved Sheffield a lot tbh, everything was great, but I just couldn’t ignore the prestige of UCL and the Bartlett. I’d say think more about your future and your job prospectives, but some people would say pick the uni you loved. With that being said you haven’t actually visited UCL, so who knows? You might like it. Book a tour since they have those running pretty much all the time. But I’d say go for UCL.

Go wherever the best course is, your life is not going to drastically change by going to UCL over Sheffield. Remember, you are going to be living there for three years, do not risk being unhappy.
