YSJ Dark Room

Hi, I'm coming to York St John in September for my first year. YSJ has a dark room facility for photography and fine art students but I was wondering if it was available to non-photography/fine art students for extracurricular use.

Hello!

I've asked some fellow students who are in the art courses about the dark room and they're not too sure about the accessibility for students on other courses. If you like I can email the team and ask them if they'd be happy to let other students make use of it?

Hi! That'd be amazing if you could do that for me. As I said, it would just be for personal and extracurricular use so I'd completely understand if its not allowed.

Hello, I got an email response from the team:

"We normal this space as students primarily from photography as it is a requirement of their course. If there is any availability, we do let art and design students use it after they have completed an induction, which normally means there is no space for students from other areas."

Sorry to hear this! Sounds like you could possibly get in if it wasn't too busy among the art students, but it seems like that's not too common.
