I got a grade 9 in my R.S. GCSEs, so here are some tips for paper 1:

Make sure to study lots of quotes, when the question says 'with reference to scripture' you NEED to include a quote or you will lose marks (these are the 5 markers),You also NEED to include quotes for your arguments in the 12 marker. Also, if you remember a quote but do not know where it is from, just say the bible/quran you do not need to be specific AND quotes do NOT need to be exact they will accept the quote in different wording as long as it makes sense.

2 MARKERS = Do not give any explanation, keep it as simple as possible.

4 MARKERS = You do not need to include a quote, you need to put a simple explanation but make sure to expand it with more information e.g. 'One way is.... this is BECAUSE...' 'A second way is.... BECAUSE'
if you don't expand it further, you will only get 1 mark.

5 MARKERS = Similar to the 4 markers but in ONE of the explanations you NEED to put a quote in. If you don't put a quote in you cannot get the full 5 marks. Make sure the quote links to the question (if you don't know one specifically use a generic one which you can twist to the situation e.g. In the bible it states, 'Love thy neighbour'

For the 12 marker you should follow this structure:

First paragraph FOR the argument, 'To begin with, the statement.... is correct because..'

Second paragraph against the argument using, 'However, this may not be the case because...'

Third paragraph against the argument, 'Furthermore, supporting this is..'

Fourth paragraph FOR the argument, 'Contrastingly..this statement is correct because'

Fifth paragraph is YOUR conclusion, so if you are agreeing or disagreeing with the statement,
'In conclusion I believe the statement... is correct/not correct because...'. Keep in note the reason for the conclusion should not be the same as the reasons you have used in past paragraphs it needs to be a new reason. Therefore, I recommend not agreeing with your personal beliefs, but the one you have the most arguments for. It does not matter which side you agree with.

for the paragraphs, I recommend using the PEEL structure.
State your point, expand it further (explanation), the evidence (quotes) for this and LINK it back to the question. Make sure to keep linking it back at least once per paragraph!!

I did not do Islam, but here are some notes I learnt for christianity:

In a 12 marker write ‘this is a strong argument because it is based on the bible which is the infallible word of God’

Quotes:

The lord's prayer - Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done; on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.

‘Wash me throughoughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin’ - Baptism

‘Go into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature’ - bible

‘Let them have dominion over all the fish in the sea’ God, dominionship - bible

‘God is love’ - Gospel of John

‘For God so loved the world he sent his one and only son’ - bible

‘God is Justice’ Psalm

‘The Almighty is beyond our reach and exalted in power’ - omnipotent, transcendent

‘The righteous will have eternal life’ - bible

‘Use whatever gift you have received to serve others’ Peter 4:10 stewardship

Arguments
Augustine theory, original sin Adam and Eve got tempted by the devil and created original sin, it effects the relationship between heaven and earth and humans are all born sinful, that's why there is a need for salvation
Iona Island for retreat, get closer to god, pray worship, community
Lourdes Miracles, mother mary

I'm doing Islam and got a grade nine in y10 mocks
Basically, it's the same for Christianity as it is for Islam, nothing different!
Just remember one thing: Allah's nature is described as Beneficent, not Omnibenevolent

This is the quote document I used for the paper:
