Looking for some advice for an application as a qualified vet nurse applying to veterinary medicine. Any tips for the Bristol SAQ and what will help make my application stand out would be super helpful

Firstly and most importantly answer the question. It seems obvious but so many applicants don’t!! For example if they say what characteristics do you have that would make you a good vet student for Bristol, they do mean student and not vet and they do want you to orientate your answers towards the Bristol teaching methods and environment which differ enormously to other schools. If they say give an example it is one example and not ten but use that one example to cover as much as possible. You have to be able to prioritise and decide what information is the most important because you will be spending 4/5 years doing just that. They want to get to know you, so you should show them how you are different to all the other candidates rather than pretending to be the perfect student. Show them your determination and your ability to adapt to unforeseen circumstances but also how you anticipate and plan for them. Show them that you know what you are getting yourself into, the good and the bad and your passion for the profession despite its difficulties.
And last but not least check that your vet nursing qualification permits you to apply for the accelerated course rather than the standard 5 year course. Make sure that all compulsory elements have been covered ( I imagine that they have) because it would be a shame to waste an application choice because of something like that.

Thank you for the reply! I have checked and my degree does permit me to apply for the 4 year luckily.
When you mention the Bristol teaching methods and environment do you mean the case based learning?

Just one more thing.Read and re read their admissions statement. It changes slightly every year but says exactly what they are looking for in their SAQ. So when you answer your questions make sure that every single point they have brought up in the statement is more than covered in your answers.
