Iwould like to preface this by saying I do study the British Empire as an A-Level so my kknowledge is much more in depth than the normal person.

Legacy - I dont believe empire really left a legacy behind, people really did stop being interested in empire a little after the World Wars and the Empire isn't something that most British people think about daily and if they do its when discussing the impact empire had on its people and the colonies it ruled.

Global influence- the influence has vastly dwindled, they don't get as much of a say in other countries as they used to do when they had its colones. E.G. they have no say over what happens in Egypt or Singapore like they used to do when they were a part of the empire. Empires influence has dwindled down to what influence Britain can maintain through agencies/institutions such as the Commonwealth and the Commonwealth Games but even that is stretching the argument a bit. It's clear that empire has left a long lasting influence, not a good one but an influence nontheless, which is evident in the widespread and common use of English as a second language in ex-colonies or how British actions has massively changed and impacted local cultures some of which could never be recovered.

Overall, and despite studying it, I don't think much of Empire. I'm aware of its triumphs and losses and how they justified there actions and how it can be argued it helped improve its colonies but its never something I have thought about much. I'm aware of itut have little time outside of A-Level revision to think on it.

Interesting questions, any particular reason for them?
