Choosing a Uni

Hi!

I've been accepted into both NTU and Lincoln for Illustration (unconditional for NTU, and conditional with a reduced offer for diversity reasons at Lincoln) and with my grades, I can undeniably get into both uni's. The problem is that I can't choose a uni, I've visited both twice, and I've done extensive research, but I was wondering if anyone had any advice? I know NTU is higher on the rankings and it has better connections, but the course modules in Lincoln seemed a little more applicable?

I'd be super grateful for any advice!

Lincoln is a small place and the Uni does not have much of a reputation academically.
Nottingham is a busy student city and NTU is bigger and likely to have bigger/more extensive art etc facilities than Lincoln.

Hi @tobycarroll07,

Congratulations on your offer to study Illustration with us at NTU!

Rest assured you still have time to make your decision; if you've received all of your replies, you'll have until June 5th to make your firm and insurance choices.

I'm glad to hear you've visited us already, but remember you can chat with our current students and staff at any time, especially if you'd like to know more about modules or facilities, or just what day to day life at NTU is like.

You may also find this student spotlight on David, a fellow Illustration student, helpful!

If you have any questions in the meantime do feel free to let us know below!

Hi Toby

I don't know if this will be much help, but I was very recently in a similar situation. I was accepted for illustration into RCA, which has a great reputation, and York St John, which isn't very well known. I ended up choosing the lesser known school, YSJ, for a few reasons: 1. after reading reviews, students seemed to love this school. 2. The program I applied for was extended from one year to two, showing support for the department. 3. I personally felt more comfortable in the environment offered at YSJ.
There are no guarantees; every school has its ups and downs, and it sounds like both schools would be great options for you. I highly recommend choosing the school that will help you not just learn, but thrive. I wish you the best and hope you enjoy whichever uni you choose 😊
