Degree Apprentiships?

I was looking at these as another option, potentially doing it in quantity surveying and building management. Noticed you can do this through UWE for example. where would you live if you did this? Halls, uni accommodation? I was a bit worried about the cost too as will I have enough money to rent as you don’t get student finance help as you are earning a wage?

Thank you!!

Hey there!

I would contact the company who the DA is run through to see what the working vs studying pattern may look like!

For some , they may do 1 day a week at university where you would just need to commute for the day where as others may do block learning (e.g 3-4 weeks of university and then back to work). Each university and company will be slightly different so I would definitely get in contact with them! You can also find out what the wage will be etc this way!

Hi there,

Degree apprenticeships are a good option so it is good that you are considering this!

I would agree with Rebecca that the best place to contact about this is the workplace/scheme that you would be doing this with. They will have the best idea on all of this and will be able to help answer your questions about wages etc just so you have the best idea on this!

In terms of halls, it really depends on your apprenticeship on what is the best thing to do with this. I know someone whose degree apprenticeship pays for them to live in halls as they go to uni during term time and work for the company during the summer. I also know someone else who goes to work the majority of the time, and goes to uni for one week every two months so they live at home. It really depends on your course and how they work it.

I hope some of this helps,

Lucy -SHU student ambassador.

Hi @BestMC26,

That's great you're looking into degree apprenticeships, it's a really good option. We've got a really useful webpage Higher and degree apprenticeships - Courses and applying | UWE Bristol which contains all the details about applying and what sort of apprenticeships you can apply for.

As the others have mentioned your employer would be the best source of information for the logistics of the process as everyone will work differently 🙂

If you have any other questions just let me know!

Thanks,

Courtney
