Have a look near the bottom of this UCAS page. You will see that between 2022 and 2024 the highest grade accepted was A*A*A and the lowest was BBB with the most common being AAB. Thus if you feel you can get ABB then you should be safe in being accepted.

You have no idea if they will be 'safe' at all.

These stats are totally unreliable as any sort of 'they will accept me with', especially since A level results change each year, and you have no idea what any Uni may accept as a 'near miss' this year - if at all.

Hi, I'm planning to put University of Southampton or Royal Holloway for my firm choice. For both, to study Psychology BSc I need AAB, and I am currently at ABB. If anyone who got into either last year or 2023 for Psychology, are either of these unis flexible with their grades (eg could accept you with a grade lower?). I know this changes every year based on how everyone does nationally, but if anyone has any experience could you please share and give me some advice?

Do either of these courses have a placement year - that is a major plus for your graduate CV.
Have you compared the optional units in all years of each course and thought about what you would choose if you went there. And, Southampton will be a cheaper place to live than Guildford - and probably more interesting.

Hi there,

It's great to hear that you're considering studying at Royal Holloway!

We would strongly advise you contact our Admissions team in the first instance, as they'll be able to explore your options with you. You can do this via the online form here, or chat to a member of our Admissions team directly here.

You can also visit our campus at our June Open Day and get a real feel for student life - you can find out more information on this page: https://www.royalholloway.ac.uk/student-life/visit-royal-holloway/open-days/.

Our students know us better than anyone and can tell you all about life at Royal Holloway, from what the courses are like, to accommodation options and what’s available on campus! Feel free to a chat with one of our current students here.

We hope this helps. If you have any other questions, feel free to reach out.

Best wishes,
Royal Holloway, University of London Rep
