Cardiff Offer

Hey so Cardiff uni gave me a conditional offer for the Adult Nursing course. My worry is that I won't be able to meet the conditions. All the conditions they've given me are in line with my predicted grade/uni entry requirements, except for math. For context, I do the IB and they've asked for a minimum of a 5 in Math AA SL. My predicted was a 4 and I have never achieved a grade higher than a 4. Also, their website states that their math requirement is a GCSE 4/C which when I checked was the equivalent of a 3 in IB MYP (I did the MYP, not GCSE). If I don't get a 5 in math, how likely am I to still get in?

Congratulations to your offer.

Maybe you could email or phone them seeking clarifications on equivalent Maths qualifications and request for revising the requirements.

Don't worry too much. Cardiff has been known for their leniency. Good Luck.

Hi Jake!

Congratulations on receiving an offer!
I also did IB - hope its going well!
I am a student here at Cardiff, but I imagine you would be ok. Like you said you achieved the above the minimum for maths gcse/myp requirement. IB I think is also thought quite highly of so that should also be good for you.
I am sorry this is not very conclusive, but of course you are welcome to talk to our admissions team as well, you can see their contacts here.

Any other questions let me know!
Hope this helps, and good luck finishing IB!!

Hey, thank you so much for the responses! They are going to be calling me soon to clarify any questions I may have, would it be okay to ask about this or would that look bad?

Yes. It is what you want to clarify and is already on their website.

Just got off the phone with admissions and they said an IB math AA SL grade of 5 is equivalent to GCSE C/4 and I would need a 5 to get in…

Don't worry too much, though the outcome might not be as good.

Concentrate your attention to the exam and do your best. Cardiff had been lenient on grades. Good luck.
