Going on a stag do but not looking forward to it

I am going on a stag do this weekend but I am really not looking forward it. It is in Madrid and all his mates and family are huge drinkers whereas I have grown out of that and I am really only going because 1. my dad doesn't drink any more so I will be keeping him company and 2. if I didn't go I know it would cause a huge argument.

The majority of the people are going Friday to Monday but we are going Friday and getting a flight back at 9am on Sunday morning so essentially will only be there for 36 hours. A few people have said because I am not looking forward to it I will probably end up having a really good trip but I am just really down and not looking forward to going.

Can anyone give me any tips to survive through the weekend? I have a young baby at home and this is the first time I will have left him overnight so I just know the whole time I am away I will be missing him and my girlfriend.

Focus on your father, and the groom and the other guys. Aim to enhance their week-end so that they have a better time for you being there.

Put aside or suppress any negative emotions that you feel this on this trip. The emotions of your fellow travellers are what you should be focusing on. And how to get them in a good mood and keep them there. That doesn't involve you supplicating, nor being a doormat. It does depend on you being good company.

You should be able to drink zero alcohol, or in extreme moderation whilst still fulfilling your role as a chaperone and valued guest.

Your baby and girlfriend will be fine without you. The break will do your girlfriend some good and help to strengthen your relationship with her, especially if you don't contact her whilst you're away. Your baby will be too young to notice that you're not there.

Be there for your friend and your Dad. Enjoy some decent weather and food
