Has anyone heard back from UCL?

Has anyone heard back from UCL today, regardless of the course?

I applied for biomedical sciences with actual A-level grades of A*A*AA in early January but haven’t had any updates at all. Should I be expecting a rejection at this point?

Would love to hear from others in the same boat!

hey, i heard back for the same course last week. A*A*A predicted and a medicine personal statement. i’ll copy in what they said below
‘Due to intense competition for our BSc Biomedical Sciences degree we are unable to make further offers for this degree. We remain very impressed by your application however and hope you will be able to take up an offer for our BSc Applied Medical Sciences at UCL.’
so, i don’t know if you’d get an offer for biomed to be completely honest, seeing how they claim they can’t make any more. good luck regardless though- they might’ve just said this to me because my application makes it clear i’ve applied for medicine!

Hey, thanks for sharing this information! It’s really helpful to know what to expect, which is most likely a rejection:biggrin: I haven’t heard back yet, but just in case you’re wondering, I’ll let you know when I do. Also, you’re so sweet for the good luck wishes, thank you so much!

It sounds like we have pretty similar stats though, I applied with a medicine personal statement, was predicted 3A*s and 1A, and ended up getting 2A*s and 2As. I’m guessing you’re a fellow medicine applicant, so did you end up getting any offers?

Just to share a bit of my story, (sorry I can be a bit chatty!) I’m currently on a gap year and had interviews at Cambridge and Imperial but unfortunately didn’t get in:”( For my “insurance”, I applied to Glasgow but got rejected pre-interview, which was quite surprising, especially since my UCAT score was strong enough to get interviews at Cambridge and Imperial!

I really hope that you’ve secured a place at your dream med school and an exciting future in medicine is ahead of you!

i'm so sorry, i just automatically assumed you were a biomed applicant! i'm also sorry i've had to bear bad news to you - i'd love to know when you hear back. hopefully it will be soon, it's so close to the deadline i'm surprised they haven't responded to you yet.
we do have pretty similar stats, although your ucat sounds way higher than mine if you got an imperial interview. i got 2940 b2, so i'm glad i decided not to apply there. and yeah, i applied for medicine too and i'm sitting a-levels this summer. i have offers from kings, barts and bsms and got rejected from ucl medicine post-interview. i've firmed kcl and insured bsms, now i'm just hoping i make the grades!
i'm surprised you didn't get a glasgow interview too tbh! i've heard they only give interviews to high scoring english students but your stats sound amazing so that's really strange. you've only mentioned three of your med choices (cambridge, imperial and glasgow), where did you apply for the fourth?
and finally please don't apologise for being chatty! i'm honestly the same 😅

Please don’t apologise! I am genuinely grateful as your post helped me mentally prepare for a forthcoming rejection! I still haven’t heard back though, so please bear with me, or UCL!

Your UCAT score is honestly incredible! Well done for all the time and hard work you put in to achieve it! (also, most of us pay a little with our mental health, don’t we?) No wonder these 3 med schools died to offer you a place! And, don’t worry about UCL, your other choices are fantastic, and I’m sure you’ll love it wherever you go! I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed that you’ll get into KCL! With your UCAT score, I have no doubt you’ll smash your A-levels too, maybe even with more ease! Is there anything you’re especially looking forward to about uni life?

Also I was quite strong in chemistry and maths during my A-levels, so if you ever need help with either, please feel free to reach out! (I’m on a gap year so I’ve got plenty of time on my hands haha)

Glasgow was definitely unexpected, I might keep an eye out for their 2025 UCAT threshold once it’s up on their website! Also, I’m an international student so that could’ve added to the decision!
Oh and I applied to UCL med alongside biomed, got rejected anyway so there’s that
