Brighton Accommodation - Varley Park if studying at Grand Parade?

How long does it really take to travel by bus from Varley Park student accommodation to the city campus? And how often and reliably do the buses run? Brighton website says 15 min by bus but I find that hard to believe when you look at the distance on a map. Trying to decide my 4th choice for accommodation and really didn't like Phoenix Brewery. Circus Street is too expensive so my first, second and third choices are the Mithras Halls in Moulsecoomb. Is Varley Park a realistic option or would I just be making life difficult for myself?

Hi @Stargazey

Realistically, I would say the bus takes 30 minutes on average as there's quite a few stops between Varley Park and City campus. The time will change depending on the time of day and how busy it is, so i'm sure sometimes it can take 15 minutes.

Varley Park has a big mixture of students from across campuses so it's a great way to meet students from other courses and there will be other students commuting to the City Campus too.

The buses are very regular, so it's easy to commute. It just depends on if you feel comfortable travelling to and from your lectures and managing the extra time it takes to get there etc.

Last year 95% of students were placed in their first or second accommodation choices, so it's very likely if you have put Mithras as your first and second choices you will be placed there ☺️ Moulsecoomb is a great location for accommodation as there's also a lot more bus options, there is a new gym on campus, plus lots of cafes and The Venue.

I hope this is helpful.
