Epq urgent help ( I’ve done nothing all year)

It’s the end of April and I haven’t done a lot in my Epq. I’ve analysed like 5 sources in total and since September I’ve probably put max 6 hours of my time into this. Production log wise, I’ve finished proposal part a, b and c but haven’t started the planning review. How can I get an A or A* in my Epq. I’ve dot a source evaluation document and a time management table, but I don’t know if I need to add anything else. How many sources should I analyse in a historical/political Epq about colonialism? How do I catch up? Whats the best way to record my journey?

I am currently in a similar situation-just a bit ahead. So far I have just been focusing on doing as much as I can day by day, either writing or researching or updating my plan. Currently I think the focus should be on just creating the research paper, source evaluation and some form of plan/log to show the journey and learning process throughout the project. Also not sure if you have one but if you have an EPQ textbook it shows what the examiners are looking for in each part of the production log. Apparently the production log is really important so perhaps don't skip over that.I think we can make it.

Hi Rea!

I would say if you really lock in now and focus, work hard and stay committed you could get an A/A*!

However, you would need to discipline yourself and give yourself a schedule.

Go through all your work and strengthen it, especially foundational stuff like the title and your aims of the EPQ (also make sure you complete these aims and talk about how you completed them in your presentation, what completing those aims did for you personally and academically, e.g built confidence/personal growth)

Finish your planning review - Go through and make sure everything is correct and specifically detailed, talking about your initial ideas, what you had to change, how you did it, why and how you overcome obstacles/adapted to these changes.

Make sure you record your hours and show your time management, e.g. 3-7 hours a week and what you did within those hours (again try to be as specific as possible) Talk about things that have prevented you doing a certain amount of hour and how you overcome this to complete your set hours.

You need around 10-15 sources that are a mix of books, journals articles and other resources to show you have explored the topic thoroughly, use google scholar, bookshops, email people relevant to your topic/ professionals or organizations, use your schools library if you have one. When you come across sources record every single one, say if it's credible or not and explain why, if credible say how you have used it and what quotes or references you have specifically used in wherever you are recording your research (I used a bibliography - i just put a table in word with one column being the source with the title and author with the source link, one with the type of source it is, one saying its credible/not credible and why e.g. bias or not biased, one with any limitations of the source and lastly one which was the dates i accessed the sources and my last one was all the quotes i used from that source)

I recorded my journey with dates and times in a word document but i switched to a planner as it was easier for me and i could just hand that in with all my evidence instead of doing more printing of all the other evidence.

Hope this helps, let me know if you need anything extra!!

Yeah I do - sorry for the late reply. Watch Jake Clarke EPQ video. In the description he links his production log, presentation etc. which is so helpful (I just copied it and adjusted my topic to it)
