idk what to do

More than halfway down year 12 and im getting U’s in maths. im trying so hard, my teachers just tell me to do mixed exercises from the edexcel textbook along with the chapters they give as hwk. i really dont want to do an extra year and i dont even know what subject to do it with. i do biology and psychology and i thought picking maths would open doors incase i dont wanna do psychology degree. i have maths mock exam in 5 weeks idk what to do anymore. i tried to change subjects back in october they wouldnt let me, i tried twice i cried so much and yh i thought maybe i cld get a C in maths at least. idk anymore i feel like giving up on everything

Hii! I would recommend using bicen maths or tlmaths to learn concepts. I would recommend watching these videos prior to your lesson, so you are familiar with the topic and the lesson is essentially just revision.

Once you learn a topic and u feel unfamiliar with it, you can watch the videos and attempt practice questions by topic on pmt or madasmaths.

A C is very much doable, you have to remember you also get method marks and this can be done by analysing mark schemes for questions in a topic and what gets you marks. Maths is a very repetitive subject, the main bit is figuring out what module the question is from.

Watching paper walkthroughs can be very useful too , for questions you don’t understand. (Mr astbury)

I’m doing pretty well in maths as a year 13 and this is what has helped me the most so far

The tips I’ve given should be done alongside doing ALL exercises in the book , I know it seems tedious but it’s really helpful to do the basics first <3

No worries! I promise it gets better with practice. For me my teacher tried to convince me to drop maths a month into year 12 because of how bad I was at it 😭 but I still continued and now I’m consistently getting As!!

Heyy, so first things first, stop panicking about it that won't solve anything. And what I would recommend doing is going straight to past papers and solving those questions. I am also not doing amazing in maths but I am passing and this is helping me do better. Solve the paper and then use the mark scheme to mark it and be very harsh when marking your own paper but make sure u understand how to do the question as your marking as well as it is likely a similar one can come up in a different paper. Also sometimes you may feel that u can't do the paper because it's too hard, that's ok but then what u can do is start solving and marking as u go on and if you don't understand a topic like probability for example, then go to watch a video on how to do it and solve some basic questions before moving onto harder ones. I understand how u feel and don't worry, u can do this a C is not impossible. I hope this helped, goodluck and do NOT panic or worry too much, u can do this!

Hey, I’m sorry you’re feeling like this. Keep your revision in short, focused bursts like 25 minutes on, 5 minutes off. It helps with burnout. I really believe you can still turn things around before your mock. Instead of just textbook questions, use sites like Dr Frost or Physics & Maths Tutor for real past paper-style questions.
