Feeling down after my interview..

Hello everyone

I just wanted to rant/know your experience after having bad interview.
Im an international student and my English isn't perfect but it is good and I'm okay speaking with others. However, today I just finished my interview and so far that is the worst interview I ever had and I'm so frustrated about myself.
The first 5 minuets basically I was stuttering, My English was so bad that an elementary student would speak better and literally forgot what i usually do at my current work when they asked me about my work experience.
The second half of the interview I managed to have control over my anxiety but after what I did, I was extremely depressed.

I really prepared myself for the interview questions yet I totally ruined it.

Have you guys went through such an experience and got accepted? any advice on how to avoid this happening in the future?

Please don't put yourself down! What happened and happened and it's okay. No one can be 100% perfect 100% of the time and the interviewers will recognise that students are under a lot of pressure. I'm not sure what you interviewed for, but if this for a university interview (as it's currently under the university courses forum), I know someone who was so lost and hence cried in their interview - they still got accepted into that university!

How to avoid this in the future - honestly, put less pressure on yourself. Practice, practice and do more practice. The pressure usually eases of if you've run through potential questions and practised speaking enough times. Get your friends/family and make them do mock interviews with you (use Google to generate questions). Best of luck and don't let this experience get you down.

Hi, I really feel you on this. I'm also an international student and when I first moved to the UK in 2022, I struggled with interviews too. I've had moments where I stuttered, forgot what I was supposed to say, and walked away feeling defeated, so you're definitely not alone.
What really helped me improve was consistent practice. I started doing mock interviews with mentors and attending networking events just to get more comfortable speaking under pressure. Over time, I became more confident and started performing better.
One bad interview doesn’t define your ability or your future. It’s part of the learning process, and the fact that you care so much already shows your commitment. Feel free to message me if you ever want to talk or practise. You've got this.
