Anyone recommend a good quality laptop that costs under £300?

I've dropped out of uni to pursue a career in computing and I'm wondering whether it's possible to find a laptop that is both relatively affordable and a good fit for computing work like coding. Anyone got any suggestions?
- Thanks

You might find something in the sales but otherwise you'd be very lucky finding a brand-new decent laptop for under £300. Personally I would consider buying from Cex as you could probably get an i5 or i7 for under £300, plus their warranty is now 5 years.

Stretch another £30 and get this one, it's an excellent deal with far more power than you would normally find in a laptop of this price point, so it will feel snappier for longer. It's also got a larger SD than you'd expect and a large 16" display, which will come in very handy for applications like coding where screen real estate is going to beneficial, all while still being a lightweight laptop under 2kg.

Is it soldered RAM in that Vivobook?
And is it one of the Vivobooks that has a rather rubbish squishy keyboard?
Dual channel SODIMMs for RAM expansion and a keyboard that's well above average for a consumer laptop, both in subjective reviews and more standardised testing at RTINGS.

Can you provide a link that shows a teardown or teardown photo for that exact model being sold by John Lewis?
Have you gotten your hands on one to assess the keyboard for yourself.
It's daming with faint praise to say the keyboard is well above average for a consumer laptop. When compared to the keyboard on a premium business laptop.

If the OP asks for it I'm sure I could find a pdf version of the manual showing how to expand or replace the RAM, but I'm not doing it for you. Because to put it bluntly, I have zero desire to indulge you in your 1000th crusade in the name of ageing Latitudes and ThinkPads. You can make your recommendation and tell the OP why you think it's better than mine, I'll tell OP why I think mine is better than yours, and they can decide which option is more suitable for them. But I'm not going to argue with you, that nonsense got tiring over the last few years I attempted it.
