Need advice/help with renting privately for uni

Hiya, I wanted some advice as the title suggests for privately renting for uni.
My firm uni is Greenwich (Skl of Medway) for mpharm and while it's not my dream uni, i'll take what I can get.
Problem is, unless I get a good grade in my alvls and change unis, ill be stuck at Medway which is a super boring area.
I don't want to live there so I need to rent in ldn privately (i rly dont want to live at home) but I'm unsure where to find cheap accoms from (ik i wont find uni accom prices like £218/week but like the place im searching r showing £400/week which is too much).

If anyone knows where I can rent for cheap during my academic year, near ldn and medway pls lmk

Hey there!

Congratulations on getting into a university!!

I understand your plight of housing for sure! Here are a few things I did to make the process less daunting:

1) Speak to your university student advice teams. I did this at University of Law and they were very helpful, generally even if you do not choose university accommodations, they have the best private renter contacts to help you out. Some universities may have student unions which even help you with checking the housing contracts etc. So, do make use of those teams.

2) Do check online reviews of whichever renter you decide to choose to avoid any future complications.

3) Make sure you are able to have an in-person viewing because you will be living there for a better part of the whole year, so you want to make sure it is safe.

4) Be on top of all the deposit requirements, minimum payments, penalties, electricity and energy bills. This will help you manage your finances in the best manner.

I really hope this general advice helped you a little, all the best!!
