Which uni? LSE or UCL?

So I have LLB offers for law (both AAB) from both UCL and LSE and i don’t know which to pick.
UCL is ranked top for Law in the UK, but LSE is ranked higher overall
Also I’m commuting so I don’t know if this will make an impact on my experience
Also I’m not sure which university is preferred by employers, particularly law firms
Please let me know your thoughts

Picking between these two is not going to have any discernible impact on your eventual Law career,
Try to think beyond just 'rankings' (which are mostly just marketing fluff) and think about the sort of Uni environment where you will feel happiest. If you went to Open Days etc, which of these two Unis had the most comfortable feel for you? This is what will determine you student experience and how much you enjoy being at Uni.

Thanks for your response. I visited both yesterday for offer holders day and tbh I liked LSE more cause I got to talk to people more and kind of walk around etc and they had more things going on, whereas at UCL it was a case of us just sitting down for 3 hours so I didn’t really get the same experience so idk if I can base my decision of that alone

UCL does have a poor reputation for the way it treats applicants -and frankly, also for the way it treats Undergraduate students. If LSE felt 'more organised / welcoming then that's a good enough reason for picking it.

Can you elaborate on this?

I can’t speak on LSE but I definitely felt the same at UCL’s online open day for law. They seemed lovely but it just felt very impersonal and robotic almost so it’s not just you. I went with a different uni too 😅

I have seen more LSE graduates with Oxford and Cambridge BCL and LLM degrees than UCL. Also, on Linkedln, I saw more profiles of LSE Law graduates working at American Law firms, earning close to £200,000 a year. Furthermore, on barristers' chambers websites, UCL graduates appear frequently but they're outnumbered by LSE graduates. 🙂

I would choose LSE. More importantly, you do know you can apply for first year accommodation? Your student loan will cover the costs. 😉 Also, you will make lots of new friends. Passfield or Carr-Saunders are full of HOME UK students.
