Hey @Tofar 🤗

I could send over some clinical science student profile videos to watch? You might find those helpful 🙂

Sheffield Medical School will consider UCAS applications from Home/EU students from Widening Participation backgrounds who have taken the Foundation in Clinical Science/Medicine Course or Year 1 of the BSc Clinical Sciences at the University of Bradford for entry to Year 1 of their A100 MB ChB programme.

Students apply to Sheffield via UCAS once they have their end-of-year results. Students must achieve an average for the year of at least 70%, (including 70% in Chemistry in the Foundation year) and no failed assessments. They must also meet the Sheffield UCAT threshold and meet at least 2 of the widening participation criteria. For more information, please go to the Sheffield Medical School website.

If you have any other enquiries and want to talk through this further you can email the faculty admin team on [email protected] and the team will be more than happy to help

Thanks, and have a great weekend!

Would you say it's difficult and competitive to move onto the year 1 of medicine at Sheffield?

Can I ask which one is better to pick the foundation in clinical science or just the clinical science if I wanted to move onto the year 1 at Sheffield uni, what is the main difference and which is most likely for me to move onto the year 1, or is their no big difference?

Hey!

The Foundation Year gives more options to apply to medicine it is accepted by other medical schools as well as Sheffield and if you don’t meet the criteria for Sheffield or are not successful at interview at the end of the year there is another opportunity to apply from Stage 1. Quite a few students who have the entry qualifications for BSc Clinical Sciences choose to do the Foundation Year first because of this.

I hope this helps

Hey!

This year, medical schools accepting applications from the foundation year included Leeds, UEA and Brighton & Sussex as well as Sheffield. Each medical school has its own eligibility criteria such as widening participation or prior qualifications so you need research the options based on your own situation.

Sheffield accepts applications from students at the end of the Foundation Year and at the end of Stage 1 (year 1 of BSc Clinical Sciences). So 2 chances to apply overall if you enter through the Foundation Year.

I hope this helps

Hey @Emily2847489

Teaching can be between 9 and 6 (but we try to avoid late finishes) and we aim for at least 1 free day a week. Wednesday afternoons are always free. You can expect to be on campus 3-4.5 days a week.

The timetabling team are working on finalising the semester 1 timetable for 2025-26 at the moment - it should be available to view in a couple of weeks. Timetables can be viewed following the instructions for guest access here : https://www.bradford.ac.uk/new-students/before-you-start-your-course/teaching-timetables/ - search for clinical sciences foundation and pick the option with 0 towards the end

Hello again!

I've received the below reply from the faculty admissions team, I hope this helps:

Places are capped for Foundation in Clinical Sciences/Medicine to Radiography and Pharmacy only two students transferred from this Foundation Year to Radiography last year. I don’t have data for Pharmacy but I would estimate probably similar numbers.

The applicant would be best placed studying an Access to HE Diploma in Science and applying for both programmes through UCAS.

They will need to provide an alternative personal statement by email than the personal statement they submit on UCAS so both programmes are covered.

Thank you,

Becky
