Transferring Course

I'm currently studying a part-time masters course and I receive the postgraduate masters loan.*

Due to health reasons, I am considering transferring to a postgraduate diploma instead, so that I can leave University sooner.*

Please could you clarify what the implications of this would be in regard to student finance?

I understand that a postgraduate diploma is not eligible for student finance and that as such, if a transfer takes place, I would not receive any further loan installments.

Please could you advise how repayment would take place of the payments I have already received? Would these still be collected in the usual way - i.e. dependent on meeting the income threshold (£21,000) and automatically from my wage, from the following April?

My concern is that I would be asked to immediately repay all of the payments that I have received so far.*

Thank you

Hi Bobby,

Can you confirm if you would be starting the diploma from the start of the course?

Thanks,
Claire

Hi. No, I would not be. The PG Dip and MA run alongside each other with student on both courses taking the same modules, until the end of the second year when the Dip finishes and the MA students go on to complete an additional third year. I would be transferring during the course. Thank you

The university can't transfer you to non Master's course so they would just withdraw your application. When we receive this we will stop future payments. Repayments then contact you regarding when you would enter repayments. We wouldn't ask for repayments for money you received while on the master's course.

Thanks,
Claire
