Loan for second healthcare degree

Hi,
Some years ago I studied Mental Health Nursing. I was doing it for two years and then I left the course due to personal reasons. I am looking at Occupational Therapy now and I'm wondering if I would get funding for another healthcare degree from SFE. Does anybody know?
Thanks in advance.

Hi there,

We can check if the course would be eligible for finance. Can you confirm the course name, university and length of course? When are you hoping to start the course?
Can you confirm your age and nationality? Do you hold any qualifications currently?

Thanks,
Claire

The course in question is Occupational Therapy at the University of Gloucestershire. I would be starting it in Sept 2027. I'm 41 and Polish. I have a BA in English Studies.

This course shows as one of our Allied Healthcare Professions Courses (AHP) which means its one of our exceptions courses, whether you have previous study or not. Funding on a new AHP or NHS course will be exempt from previous study and ELQ rules. Therefore, if you already hold a degree or has previous study you will still be eligible to access the full package of funding, so long as you're not already registered in the field.

As you said this may be 2027 our guidance may change so best to contact us nearer the time and we can check its still the case.

Thanks,
Claire

What if I wanted to study social work? Would I get full funding too?

Hi there. Can you confirm the full name of the course and university? Will the new course be full time or part time? How many years will it be? Thanks, Leah.

Hi,
It would be Social Work BSc at the University of Gloucestershire, 3 years full time.

Hi there. This is also an exception course, so we don't take previous study into account. Thanks, Leah.
