Can i apply for Masters with a 2.2 if the entry requirement is 2.1

Im in my final year studying health sciences. I kind of come to the realisation that I will most likely be graduating with a 2.2 especially since my dissertation supervisor has been no help at all. I really pushed myself this year and have been getting better grades than my previous years but I don't think its enough to override my Cs and occasional Ds. I was going through It mentally and struggled to get the work down even though I am passionate about what I study.

My final exam is in 2 weeks, dissertation is due in 6 days and I've come to terms with it that I am getting a 2.2 because I'm not expecting my dissertation to be amazing as I have gotten no support. Now I am looking to apply for masters in respiratory and sleep science, which is something I really want to do but I'm unsure if I should apply because entry requirement is 2.1 and I'm likely to get a 2.2.

Has anyone else applied to a course and gotten in without actually being 'eledgible' ?

Hi @Aicha123

I’d really recommend contacting the admissions team at the university directly—either by email or phone—as decisions can sometimes be flexible depending on factors like course demand and your relevant experience. That way, you’ll know if it’s worth applying before spending time on your personal statement.

Be sure to highlight any strong grades you’ve achieved this year, especially in key modules, and mention if your dissertation is related to the course area. Any practical experience or additional training you’ve done will also help show your interest and suitability.

In some cases, they might allow you to apply and could invite you for an interview or ask for extra evidence of your capability.

Hope that helps, and best of luck with your dissertation and assessments 🙂

I applied my master's with 2:2 and got in, but I already had work experience as well. Just like Megan said, contact the university cause it all depend on the course and the university you wanna apply to.

Best of Luck!
