Glasgow Scot’s Law 2025

Hii! I just firmed Glasgow for Scot’s Law starting this September, anyone else! I don’t have any friends from school going to Glasgow so would love to make some or at least know some people before freshers 😁

hi, I am also about to firm an offer for Scot's Law starting September 25 aswell. Obviously it is conditional, and I can't guarantee that I will be there but I am in a similar position to you! A few from my school have firmed Glasgow but I don't know if they're staying in halls and none of them are doing Scot's Law.

Hi @Jetti ,

Congratulations on your offer 😁

Is there anything we can help with as you prepare for Glasgow this September?

Thanks,

Hi, I’d like help with knowing how to pick classes etc, I’ve heard it’s quite difficult but I don’t know anyone going to the uni so I’m quite worried about it

Hi @Jetti

Concerning picking your classes, this will happen once you begin the matriculation period in mid-August (Roughly 3-4 weeks before the start of term). The process is fairly simple, and we'll have a matriculation team on hand to help with anything you need.

In the meantime, it might be worthwhile looking over our Course Catalogue . This breaks down each module that's available on our programmes per year, allowing you to start planning what modules you'll take.

Hope this helps😀

Hi,

Firstly, congrats on your offer!

And secondly, the registration and enrolment process is a bit tricky but gets easier with time since its something you'd be doing every academic year. There is a ton of support and resources from the University during that time as well to help navigate the webpages, but as the other representative mentioned going through the catalogues is a great shout!

During your first two years of the Scots Law programme most of the classes would be picked by the bar in advance, so they would be the compulsory courses you need to qualify into law, with a couple additional options for electives. It is during your third and fourth years (honours years) where you have a lot of freedom to almost specialise and pick and study any of our varied courses. I studied the Common Law programme at UofG and during my first year the elective I picked was international public law if that helps.

You also get an allocated academic advisor of studies who you'd be meeting with during your freshers week as well, and then you can chose to meet with them at any point in the year or email them. They would also be helping you out with any questions you have about your academic progression.

I hope this helps

Thank you! I’m still unsure whether I want to study joint hons law and English lit or single hons Scot’s law, so I hope I can speak to my academic advisor soon to get some advise as the uni told me it’s possible to drop to single honours easily

Hi,

I would suggest starting as a joint honours and then dropping one at any point through your academic journey based on how you feel. One of my closest friends swapped from joint honours to single honours at the end of her second year and picked up credits accordingly after (she went from Law and Politics, to just studying Politics). You should be getting the contact details of your academic advisor around the time of registration and enrolment in a couple weeks, so hang tight till then

Best of Luck with your journey
