French, Spanish, German or Arabic?

I'm still yet to decide whether I should study French, Spanish, German or Arabic. I'm very familiar with Arabic text due to religious and environmental reasons, familiar with Spanish (mainly due to my music type Ig 😭) and familiar with German because of friends. But I'm completely new to French, and I can't really decide. What was easier for you guys and what did you get in your exams?

From personal experience I'd take spanish, since you kind of have some immersion in it. Also I think that it would be the "easiest" to take (but if you already have an good understanding of Arabic this could be good too). Overall I'd say just choose the one you feel most confident in as it will reflect in your grades.

Hi! Those are all great options you’re considering. I currently study Arabic at university and have taken French at both GCSE (grade 9) and A-Level (A*). I also studied Spanish for two years before GCSEs, so hopefully I can offer some useful insight.

In terms of difficulty, I’d rank Arabic as the most challenging due to its complex grammar and extensive vocabulary (some common words have multiple variations that you’ll need to learn). I’d say French and Spanish were similar in terms of difficulty, but I found French grammar to have slightly more irregularities.

Since you already enjoy listening to Spanish music, that could be a great fit—it’s a fun way to pick up vocabulary and improve pronunciation! I found French music really helpful for improving my accent. I also chose to continue with French over Spanish because I was more interested in the culture. So I’d recommend picking a language you’re genuinely passionate about, since this will keep you motivated while studying.

I hope this helps and good luck with your studies!
