UWE bristol or Salford for film?Or just not go uni at all

Heya, so I'm reaaly stuck between firming UWE Bristol and Salford to study filmmaking, i've been to both unis and its just maken me even more undecised ,Bristol seems like an amazing place to live , bloody expensive but near London which is where im from. But the course prospect, networking oppotunities and alumni at UWE just doesnt seem that good , while Salford seems to have really good equipment and loads of past students working in the industry and overall a decent uni, but its just so far away(manchester) which makes me not as interested in joining.TBH lately ive got an offer from all my chocies except LIPA, and even tho every course seems alright its like ive been feeling that none of those unis are the right place for me, thats makingme start wondering if uni is really the path i wanna take to get into the industry or even if doing film prodcution is the right decison since i can study whatever and still get a PA job when i graduate.Anyways any quick responses would be amazing since most accomodation for both unis.

Hello @PerroLlorando07,

Firstly just want to say well done for reaching out and really voicing and considering all your options for university. Finding the right course for you is one thing but finding the right institution as a whole takes a lot more consideration and it is clear that you are taking these considerations.

I also want to say I can see we are one of your options which we are very happy about but I will stay unbiased and try and give you some general advice.

It seems that you have done all the thinking and weighed up a lot of the options including the course, the surrounding area, the distance from home, the job prospects etc, and after all of this you are still divided. My next bit of advice would be to now weigh up what out of all of those criteria is the most important to you.

Is living further than expected from home more or less important to you then equipment/ facilities of an institution? Is cost of living a bigger factor then the surrounding area you want to live in? ect. ect.

These big questions only you can fully answer so the big bit of advice I would say is to follow your gut instinct. For example when I chose Salford, originally I wanted to move further away from home but the other elements of my personal decision making outweighed this need to move further away. So I followed my gut and did not regret doing so in the end.

It is your decision so do what will make you happy.

I hope this has helped, if there is anything more I can do to help do let me know.
