Should I go prom?

So basically I don't like my year group, im itching to leave secondary, I hate dress shopping and I had a **** time at school so is it worth going to prom?

Nope, prom is not an obligation and you can choose if YOU want to go. If you don't like your year group then you won't have a fun time partying with them (probably) and might as well have a nice night in with some friends/ family instead.

Personally I would skip it. I didn’t go to mind and had no regrets. It’s a highly staged right of passage probably only enjoyed by the socially over confident. If nothing about it appeals to you then you’re not losing out

Get an outfit from a charity shop. One that's only just within the limits of the dress code is fine.
Don't spend a lot of time nor money on the outfit.

At the prom practise your social skills. Regard it as an opportunity to benefit you, And not a social obligation.

Feel free to tell any teachers at the prom what a terrible time you had at school and why you had such a bad time.

Thank the better teachers. Thank the better fellow pupils. Give them a clear and highly specific compliment.
Spread a little joy to those that deserve it at this social event.
