LAET (real) entry requirements

Hi, so i got an offer for LAET for maths, computer science and physics, the entry requirements are 7s in the subjects i want to do but i know that most of the a levels i picked are very popular and so there's gonna be a lot of competition, if i do meet the entry requirements of all 7s, would i be guaranteed a spot in my courses or would they send me away for someone with higher grades?

heyy, i got an offer there too! from what I know, its first come first serve and there are groups. u have to calculate ur aps on the day (the average of ur top 8 gcses). if u have an aps of 8+ ur in group 1 and u most likely have a chance to get ur selected a levels (as long as u got 7s in those specific gcses as well). if u have an aps of 7.5+ ur in group 2 which lowers the chance. and if u get all 7s, u would have an aps of 7 and would be in group making it unlikely that u would get ur selected a levels. good luck and hope this helps!

Hi. I had a 9 couple 8s and 7s but still wasn't able to get computer science econ or physics. I don't want to discourage you, but you should aim to get higher grades overall to increase your aps - which then lets you come to the school on enrollment day earlier and then gives you the chance to get ur chosen subjects

I know some people who enrolled for 2 schools laet and another sixth form somewhere. He basically didn't want to rush a judgement so he kept both of them and used the time between results day and start of school to secure his choice

Alright so if i get an average of 7.5+ In my Top 8 subjects right so being phys chem bio, french, cs, maths, english LANGUAGE and art, but then i get like a 2 in english literature (which i probably did but it's the 9th subject) would that affect my average

sry just saw this but it wont affect it. as long as u get the minimum for math and eng lang, and u get a good average (like 7.5+) a bad grade in eng lit wont rly do anything

I do triple science and I feel like I got 6s but in everything else I think I got 8s and 9s. I don’t want to do science for a level and I’m a feeder school will this affect my chances ?

Doesn’t top 8 have to include your core subjects?

It only has to include your top 8 best subjects, maths and English you need a 6 at least just to enter the school, and you'd need 7s in maths and English to enter for most subjects.

Are you sure? So I don’t need to include science when calculating my aps?

Nah just the top 8. Obv if you’re tryna do bio chem or physics then you’ll need a min 7 to do the subject. Also on enrolment day they just see if u have 5 grade 7s and they let u in (what i observed happening w me as it didn’t take more than 5 secs). If u meet the minimum requirements just show up as early as u can they’ll probably let u in the building

Offer holders enter first. If u dont have an offer or haven’t applied then u have to wait until all offer holders are done. Even if u have all 9s, offer holders are prioritised before u

I mean if u have an offer and u get the grades then yh. But if u dont have an offer, chances are most subjects may be already full. If you’re tryna do stem subjects then yh definitely there wont be any spaces. Even some of the social sciences like psychology and econ are popular. If u have an offer from another school thats just as good or almost as good then dont bother showing up. If u dont then u might as well try cuz u will be allowed to change your subjects after 2 weeks (considering theres spaces available in the subject u wanna do). But yh if u dont get a space at laet then you’re gonna have to find an average college that accepts students even after the enrolment day (like candi or something).
