You will pay £25K to study for an MSc in Physician associate studies.
•
But on qualification, you will be a Physician Assistant.

GP surgeries are shedding PAs like confetti in the last year. However, should you wish to work in a GP surgery, you will first need to work as a PA in a hospital for 2 years. You CANNOT go from Uni to GP surgery straight away (thank the Lord).
•
Should some GP surgery in the future still hire PAs - you will NOT be able to see undifferentiated patients or diagnose or of course prescribe. If you make a mistake, your supervising Doctor will take the flak - so you will be seeing people with coughs and colds and the GP (if he/she is sensible will have to double check in case you missed something more serious). So in effect, you are adding to their workload - not reducing it.
•
So after uni, your first task is getting a Physician's Assistant job in a hospital. Last year most PAs were unemployed. This year, the Leng Review has come out and reduced your scope and you are now assistants. The best way to get a role in a hospital would be at Band 3 at best.
