Im currently super stuck picking between Durham and Manchester for my firm to study Liberal Arts, obvs really different places. I’ve been leaning towards Manchester bc I prefer the city and vibes but I am not completely sure on the course so anyone who could help would be amazing!!
So at the first open day I went to I was kind of put off by the whole global/social issue based focus to lib arts they seemed to be doing? whereas for my other uni options it was much more you just pick your subjects, sometimes have a vague core module but that’s it, the course is yours to pick. Am I assuming too much about that, how have students found the core modules/moulding of their course? Is there much support for picking modules to make a coherent and themed degree with the goal of one final dissertation, or is it more of a do what you like and see where you get situation? Is there much careers/employability support?
For context I’d like to study Chinese, film/visual arts, and a bit of business/marketing, so if anyone has insights into those subjects I’d love to hear that too!
Any replies greatly appreciated!! Choice deadlines defo closing in 😭😭
