Higher English Last Minute Help

Hi,
I am kinda nervous about higher English as I don't feel prepared. I am ok with the RUAE paper, but the critical reading paper is a big deal for me.

For Scottish Set Text, I am doing poetry by Liz Lochhead. Any advice on this would be helpful.

For the Critical Essay, I am doing The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller. My plan for this would be to memorise an introduction and a conclusion structure, then memorise 2 pre-prepared essays, one would be about a character whom I feel sympathy for/isolated, the other would a character who is flawed/vulnerable - basically how his arrogance and pride result in bad stuff. If there is time left, then memorise a key scene essay too, which would kind of be based on the flawed/vulnerable essay.
Any advice for critical essay?

Do you think this approach is good to secure an A in Higher English?

OMG WAIT WHAT POEM DO YOU THINK IS COMING UP?? Also i’ve done something very similar to this, ive memorised 3 different essays and they are all very similar to each other - just tailored the end of each paragraph to fit with each questions type. You should be fine, and remember not to be too stressed about it.
Ok for the poems, nobody else on here seems to be doing it because apparently everyone’s doing Duffy. But I really hope the bargain comes up, especially the second page of it. Anyway, do you think revelation is likely to come up? because if so i’m cooked. Sorry back to you, if your good at RUAE and you know the essays and poems well then you’ll be fine

I don’t think u really need to memorise an essay just rember the structure and then analyse the quotes in the exam

I am just memorising my opening sentence for each paragraph. Each quote, and a few words of analysis which I’ll expand on when I write the essay out.

For me the biggest struggle is the time

yes!! i think the timing is so unfair, considering it’s the exact same as n5 and were expected to do double the work. even an extra 15 minutes would greatly benefit a lot of people

i think it will be last supper for lochhead this year because they’re removing half the poems for next year which means next years highers won’t have many papers to revise from. my rivals house is being kept but that came up last year, and box room is staying too but it came up in 2022, whilst last supper is staying and it last came up in 2019 but i also don’t know

I don't think it'll be last supper as they change the poems every 6 years. Last supper has already came up once the past 6 years, and since it's only one page there's not really anything else they can ask on it. Whereas the bargain has not came up since 2016, before the poems switched. The only page that has been asked for the bargain was the first page, so they could still ask you page 2 or 3 and there's lots to analyse on page 2 especially on the theme of deteriorating relationships. Anyway it could be last supper or even Revelation; I just hope the 10 marker is good this year.

What about 'revelation'? Is that a possibility, do you think?

Since Revelation came up in 2021, I am not sure.
The chances are low - but they could still make the 10 marker something related to Revelation i.e. theme of loss (loss of childhood innocence for Revelation and loss of love in The Bargain).
I know a few quotes for it, like maybe 4 or 5 just in case, but if possible I'm just going to try and use another poem for the 10 marker.
But to answer your question, it is more likely for Last Supper to come up over Revelation, so no I guess it's not likely. But I would learn at least 4 quotes just in case.

I know all 4 poems well apart from View Of Scotland / Love poem, 2023 (know 0 quotes for) and Revelation, 2021 (know 5 quotes for), just hoping it's The Bargain or Last Supper.
