Can a UCAS referee withdraw their reference?

Hi,

I just wanted to know if a UCAS referee can withdraw their reference after the application has already been sent and offers have already been given?? My referee threatened to do so because I’ve stopped attending their classes recently and said that if I continue they would have to withdraw their UCAS reference and I’m just a bit worried if it’s true.

I am not sure but I have never heard of something like that ? I would maybe contact UCAS support and ask if that actually a possibility even though I highly doubt that

No they can’t withdraw their reference.

They could contact your universities to notify them about your lack of engagement.

Why have you stopped attending classes?

Yeah, I tried to google it and it says no that they can’t but they seemed pretty serious so I got kinda anxious about it. The problem is that to contact UCAS I’d have to wait until Monday and their classes are on Sunday and I really don’t wanna go :/

Thanks for the reply! In short terms, I stopped attending because it was really overstimulating and I do better one to one or alone. Their classes are super packed and with really loud noises and on my part, I did only want to use them for help on my application so in the last month I stopped attending.

Have you explained this to your teacher and asked for their suggestions to come up with a solution that will let you attend?

University lectures can also be packed and noisy - finding ways and tactics to manage attending classes in an environment that can be overstimulating is going to help you long term
