worst case scenario, nothing happens, and that's it. and even then, you can be glad you atleast tried, if you get what im saying? idk if this helps but i remember i was interested in this guy and i impulsively followed him and started a convo, i dont even think he knew my name but we hit it off and talked for hours on a weekend once, he also started replying to my stories on insta etc etc so you never know

about the friend thing, that could be kind of embarrassing but if its really stressing you out, then you could tell the friend it was an accident/you just wanted to be friends or something?

I saw a guy I thought was attractive at a society event, I didn't to speak to him (stupid mistake) so I didn't get his name or what course he does
do I request his instagram which I found w/o knowing his name? I know he noticed me that day, we made eye contact but I can't read anything off that bc it wasn't significant. this sounds so delusional but when I was near his friends, I overhead him speaking - he mentioned his ethnicity, religious terms so I found out his religion and said something about marriage (hypothetically, not like he was actually engaged/getting married) all in the space of like 3 minutes of me standing near his friend group
do I take the risk and hit request - we have a mutual friend, the one I was with at the event and he did see us there and they know each other. normally I wouldn't be so nervous to just hit request and see what he does (we both have a private account) but I'm just scared he'd see it, ignore it and then maybe mention it my friend (which would be so embarrassing)
but also, if he accepts it, which obv won't confirm anything b/c he might add me w/o liking me or even remembering me, what do I do next? I don't want to just be mutuals and not get to know each other but how would I start a conversation other than saying 'you look familiar have I seen you at uni?' which would only go well if he remembers me
