Do top unis like oxford and imperial care about retakes

I am on track to earn 40 IB points with 777 in my HLs in Biology, Chem, Math AA But 5, 6, and 6 in my SLs and 2 points from core. I was wondering if there is a problem retaking because I am taking a gap year anyways...

From the Oxford and Imperial web sites respectively:
"While the University will consider applications with retake grades, any such application is likely to be less competitive than those without retakes."
"With the exception of our MBBS Medicine programme, candidates who have retaken exams may still be considered for entry. However, submitting grades based on resits may be noted by our Admissions tutors."

Si you can apply with resit grades, but your application may be less competitive as a result. For both universities, if there were extenuating circumstances which explain the need for retakes, then let them know as they will take those circumstances into account.
