Law at Uni in the UK

Hi! I've been hearing about the possibility of 4 grade offers if you take 4 A-Levels, and I was hoping to hear if this is actual a common occurrence for law and if so what universities tend to do this? I wasn't sure if maybe it varied between subjects!

Most unis ask for 3 A-Levels? You may check to confirm. There is no point diverting your effort to a 4th subject when it is not required.

I've heard lately they have been handing out 4 letter grade offers though! My school doesn't actually let you drop your 4th A Level unless you have special circumstances too

You better fact check that.

It is your own lifetime decision. You need to be proactive, not just listening from someone without personal interest in it.

Cambridge does this! They’re the only uni in the UK that does this for law, as far as I’m aware. Honestly, I don’t think it’s too bad at all, and anecdotally, they are pretty lenient if you miss the grade in your 4th A level apparently. It’s more of an incentive to make sure you don’t neglect your 4th.

I do 4 and my offer is A*A*AA. For those who did 3, it is A*A*A. I don’t think it makes much difference, and arguably it’s nicer for people who do 4 because I can miss the A* in 2 subjects, whereas those who do 3 can only miss the A* in one of their subjects, if that makes sense?

A competitive university might do this if it thinks you have one easy A level, like a mother tongue language, or two similar A levels, like Business Studies and Economics, or if it just thinks you have the look of a slacker who might cruise if they didn't have a tough offer! No-one is going to require you to do 4 and no-one is going to see 4 as better than 3.
