Question about clearing

Hi,
I sat my A-Levels last year, but am resitting Physics this year. I have sent of my UCAS form and my offers depend on me achieving my predicted grade. I have put in a lot of work and hope to achieve this grade, but some of the areas I have made mistakes on in past papers have created doubts surrounding the courses I have applied for, even though I am very interested in this subject.
If I take my exams and then I see a course available from the 5th of July through clearing, could I request to change my firm and insurance choices to decline, then try to accept a course through clearing? I currently have 140 ucas points. I understand that I would have the option to decline my place after results day with potentially more ucas points, but then I might miss my chance to pick a decent course.
Is this possible?

Yes, but obviously only if your achieved grades meet the entry requirements, ie. you cant use your potential Physics resit grade for a July Clearing place.

As above - yes but you can’t wait around. You can only swap replies up to around 20 July and sometimes that can take a while if your firm/insurance universities haven’t given blanket approval. Particularly if staff are taking holiday (admissions staff can’t usually take time off in August so July is very popular)
