Costume Design & Construction

I'm studying Costume Design & Construction at NTU.

I've just finishing my first year and the whole time our year leader has been off sick with no replacement. The costume technicians have been covering her job, and have been extremely overworked. Due to this the whole class is struggling with the workload.

It feels impossible to get it all done, and to find any primary resources for our research. Despite asking for university trips to help us research historical garments, our lecturer tells us that the course has no money (there's about 50 in our year group and our tuition fees are at least £9'500).

Is anyone else in the UK studying Costume Design struggling with their course?
How do you find primary resources for historical garments (especially Tudor & Elizabethan)?

That sounds really difficult.

Do you have a course rep and if so has the course rep got any feedback on whether the university is going to properly staff the course with a replacement for next year? If not the the student union should be able to provide some advice.
Have you spoken to your subject librarian about available resources?
It might be worth putting together a UCAS application to apply to transfer elsewhere if it doesn’t seem like the situation will be resolved soon. That would give you options.

Hi, I’m thinking of applying for next year, has this issue been resolved or is it still ongoing?
