Reading or Loughborough for Fine Art

Trying to decide between Loughborough and Reading Uni for Fine Art - anyone studying there that can give pros and cons? Looking for good course and good nightlife

If you are a party animal then Reading is a better location, but the Uni has no real reputation for Fine Art.
Loughborough has a surprising Art/Creative reputation and has the best sports facilities of probably any UK Uni.

I know someone (who went to school with my sister). She did fine art at Loughborough.
She is an amazing artist.
She seemed to really like it there.

Hi @Shellfish1

I hope you're doing well.

It is great to hear that you are considering the University of Reading.

I don't personally study Fine Art, but I know of several people who do and have had really positive experiences.

The campus itself is very pretty and picturesque, but the town centre is very busy. There are plenty of pubs, bars and clubs both on and off campus. The nightlife is generally very good in Reading, and it is also very near to other big cities like London and Oxford so nights out there are also very easy.

If you have any more questions, just let us know!

Hi there @Shellfish1 , in addition to going for Open Days to get a feel of the campus and vibe of the university, I would recommend contacting past graduates or current students on socials to get a better sense of the course curiculmn and how they feel about the university. These are some factors you may also want to consider 🤗 How far is the uni away from home? What type of art workshops or facilities are provided? Is there a difference in the cost of living? What are the term dates like (as some unis might end earlier than others)? Hope this helps 😁

Have you looked at the graduate shows for both for the last few years?
