GT or Big 4 Degree Apprenticeship?

I have received both offers from Grant Thornton and KPMG for a degree apprenticeship. I need to make a decision regarding what offer to choose. I feel like I have already made my choice but wanted to see others opinions.

GT:
- Digital Audit, ACA route.
- Tech focused, this includes more programming and technological solutions to audit as opposed to actually conducting audits or financial services.
- Have heard that there is a much better work life balance here and overall would feel more valued due to it being a smaller firm.
- Paired up with buddy who I don’t seem to connect that well with and I am afraid that this will reflect upon my work life at the firm with other employees.
- Slightly higher salary but not much of a difference.

KPMG:
- Audit apprenticeship, ACA route
- Big 4, hence potential for better future prospects.
- Better experience in terms of final interviews and connecting with people at the firm.
- Sibling has worked there for a while and continues to work there, this is valuable to me as many of his colleagues know me through him and would help me in terms of work life balance such as commuting, imposter syndrome, etc.
- Slightly lower salary but not by too much.
- I know through my sibling how difficult it is and have seen the poor work-life balance in terms of hours but I feel like they would be able to help me out with that too.

Do both schemes go straight to ACA rather than starting with AAT? How long is each scheme - ie how many years to be ACA qualified?

KPMG starts with AAT whereas GT starts with CFAB which im not too familiar with. I believe both schemes are 5 years however GT may be 4.

Id check the number of years - I think 4 vs 5 years might be enough of a factor to be pretty significant in your decision.

Congratulations on the offers by the way!

What’s 1 year difference for what might be a 40 year long career?

OP should pick whatever will motivate them to perform at their best, and whoever will personalise and invest in their development beyond the absolute minimum EPA requirements.
