So I have 2 options for my top choice for university, both require AAB. I just want to know which university is better for me in terms of job prospects, uni lifestyle and any extracurricular activities.
Does either course include a work-placement - this adds enormously to your graduate CV. Loughborough - excellent STEM focussed Uni with amazing sports facilities. Warwick - the nearest town is Coventry.

You sound like you don't like Warwick. 😊 It doesn't especially raise my spirits looking at it but nor does Loughborough (unless the OP really likes Sport).
Question - you could get in Nottingham or Bimingham for Mechanical Engineering if you have the grades for Loughborough and they're better for the subject than Loughborough and Warwick according to Edurank. Did you apply to either Nottingham or Birmingham too?

Hi Nick,
Regardless of rankings, only you can decide where you'd be happiest and lead the most fulfilling student life and so if you're confident you'd be happy at Warwick or Loughborough then go for it 🙂
I would advise to choose your uni based on which course you think better suits what you want to learn and where you want to be (i.e. does it have a placement scheme/work experience opportunities? what are the modules? does it focus on the areas I'm interested in?) - but also to consider the uni's campus and city vibe. Have you visited both these places on their open days/offer holder days? Did any one make you feel more at home and at ease? Have you looked around the cities?
Both Loughborough and Warwick have very nice campuses with ample green space. Warwick has a huge range of societies and Loughborough is especially famous for its sports facilities, so both have a lot going for them. Its all about deciding on where you would feel happiest and most fulfilled.

Hi there, It is great to hear you are considering Mechanical Engineering but may i suggest Coventry as an option, I am on the motorsport engineering course now and mech and motorsport have a shared first year and am absolutely loving it. The lectures cover a wide range of crucial engineering topics and areas of study while remaining relevant and the laboratory sessions and workshops are all up to date and well equipped to allow for hands on experience. A large number of Formula One teams and big engineering firms are actually based within 2 hours of Coventry universities campus so if you want good industry ties then we have them. We also have a event winning Formula Student team that nearly came second last year that you could join from your 1st year onwards to gain valuable insight into being a Formula One engineer. Many thanks and hope this helps Dan - Motorsport Engineering Student Ambassador

Sorry for the late reply, Only the lougborough degree I selected has an industrial placement. I wanted to apply for year in industry with warwick, but UCAS didn't show it for my thing and I didn't know what the code for the course was as i was having difficulty with it.

Check with Warwick, and if there is a 'with placement' option ask if you can switch course codes now - its usually very straightforward.

Both are very respectable and realistically equivalent in terms of job prospects.
I regularly see graduates from both universities in industry at top employers, id say Warwick is more automotive & manufacturing whereas Loughborough pumps students into automotive but probably a little more breadth and i would say from a research & expertise is solid across the board.
My personal opinion id give Loughborough the slight edge in engineering across the board, outside of engineering Warwick is the more prestigious. Not a lot in it, i would go visit the universities, look at the societies see how you feel, which is better personal fit.

Highly unlikely to be an issue, you can’t guarantee a placement anyway… its ultimately reliant on students putting in the effort to apply for jobs and secure a contract. This is almost always a decision you don’t have to make until after 1st year.
