Engineering Offers

Hi there, I have firmed Southampton for Mechanical Engineering and only after did I realise that I prefer Bath's Engineering. I did not apply to Bath through UCAS. Is it too late for me or is there any other way I can apply? Thank You
Hello,

I'm sorry to hear that you are having doubts about Southampton - it is a well regarded institution for Mechanical Engineering!

Unfortunately our Mechanical Engineering course closed to new home applications on the equal consideration deadline in January and we can't consider any new applications for it. It is also unlikely to be in Clearing as it hasn't been in recent years.

Hi there,

Sorry to hear about your situation!

What you decide to do is up to you, however, where do you think these doubts are coming from? Do you think it is partly a fear of the unknown or the feeling that the grass will be greener elsewhere? - these are very normal doubts to have when taking a huge step towards your next chapter and many students experience doubts that they've made the right decision. Southampton is a lovely place and a very good choice for Engineering and so I'm confident you'll make some great memories there. Uni isn't all about where you go, its about what you make of your student life there, the opportunities you take and the people you meet along the way.

However, if you are having very serious doubts and feel you've made a mistake, then you always have the option to take a year out to get some work experience, travel and earn some money and reapply to Bath next year. You would have to be very sure its the right thing to do for you because it is a big decision but you do have this as an option 🙂 - however it would be a great shame to pass up on the opportunity to go for the course you want at Southampton!

I hope this helps - best of luck!
