GEM options

I am looking to apply for graduate entry medicine. I am trying to cut down to the 4 I want to apply to (but I know this might change after I do the UCAT, based on what my score is). I have BART and King's on my list of unis I'm thinking of applying to. I understand they are both very hard to get into but I am unable to understand how hard it is. I have seen that <5% of applicants get an offer from BART and ~2% of applicants get an offer from King's, so I understand there is cut-throat competition. What sort of stuff will I have to do to stand out. I plan on volunteering at a local hospital as a ward assistant (trying to get 70 hours), I work part time, I am aiming to get a first class honours degree in Biomedical Science. This doesn't make me stand out, so what sort of stuff can I do to make me an all-rounder and I hopefully get a chance to get even an interview 😭.

Also, I know Imperial is doing a GEM course with Cumbria. Since the course will be done in Cumbria and the interviews are also held in Cumbria, will the competition be as hard as undergrad medicine at Imperial? I know the course is new so I don't have a lot of information.

Thanks
