INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS Connecting with family - a challenge and potential solution

As a boarding student from Hong Kong, I've been working on solving a personal challenge - staying connected with family without formal calls or public social media.

I'd appreciate feedback on this concept: an app specifically for meaningful micro-updates between family members separated by distance. No social validation metrics, just authentic connection.

I currently am actively developing this platform, to potentially solve these issues. Featuring:
- Share daily moments through quick updates, photos, or brief voice notes
- Maintain connection without the pressure of crafting perfect replies
- Build an evolving digital family journal that captures life's small but significant moments
- Feel present in each other's lives despite physical distance

After being away from home for a while, students, especially international students may feel disconnected with their families, and communicating will become difficult, especially with minor and informal updates that we may feel messaging are too formal for, and therefore stop communicating at all unless needed. This is called communication attrition, and happens to the best of us. Especially for us international students, time zone differences adds complexity to casual communication.

I would just like to ask if anyone has shared the same experience as me, and would be interested in using my platform or even funding its development on kickstarter?
