TMUA help

I’m planning on sitting the TMUA in October. Has anyone on here previously sat the TMUA? Im looking at applying to LSE, Warwick, and some other top universities for maths with __ (economics or statistics) and want to get a score of above 6.0. How should I prepare for this? How often should I revise? Any insight would be great!

R2drew2 on YouTube will help you a lot. Warwick have a low TMUA requirement, I got 5.4 and my friend got 4.5 and we both got reduced offers from Warwick for maths

Could you talk me through your preparation? When did you take the exam? How often did you revise? And congrats on getting an offer

My school is bad so they didn’t help much. There were a few year 2 topics that are on TMUA that we got taught early, but that was it. I did a bit during summer holidays but most of it was a month before the exam, I done the October sitting. I completed every single past paper on pmt and made sure I knew every question, then did the same for every mock paper (you can find them on R2Drew2). Then watch all his videos on questions by topic. I managed to get a 5.4 with a 7 in GCSE maths, and TMUA is meant to be one of the easier entrance exams

Were the reduced offers based on TMUA scores this year for 2025 entry? Thanks

Yeah TMUA is used to determine whether you get an offer at all, then a higher TMUA will mean a reduced offer

Ok, thanks! I hadn’t realized they were still using TMUA to make lower offers in maths now the test is compulsory. Congratulations on your offer

Hi! I took TMUA before starting at Warwick and I’m happy to share some advice.

First, I suggest reading the official test guide. It shows the topics you need and helps you check what to revise. You can find it here: https://esat-tmua.ac.uk/prepare

Next, try past papers from 2016 to 2024. Doing those will help you get used to the question style and the online test system.

Try some mock exams with a timer too. That really helps with time control during the real test.

If you want harder practice, you can try some multiple choice questions from the MAT test.

TMUA is accepted by Warwick and it’s a great way to prepare for uni-level maths. A lot of students find that doing TMUA or STEP makes the first year a bit easier, because it trains the way of thinking you’ll need.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you have more questions
