The Student Room Group

Sixthform

Hi, I was just wondering—I took a gap year and now I'm 16, turning 17. I want to rejoin school with my year group straight into Year 13 (I didn't do Year 12 due to certain reasons). I want to do one A-Level in Psychology and two BTECs, and I'm planning to use this whole summer, starting now, to catch up on coursework and learn. Do you think sixth forms will accept me? I've got 7s and 8s in my GCSEs.

Btecs often have different assessment structures meaning they’d have to be completed in a college/school over 2 years in order for you to complete the course. Have you check this?
Contact individual sixth forms and ask them whether they’d accept you. If they did they would likely want a lot of evidence that you’re at a level of their other students so they could demand you sit a mock or something.
You could just join a sixth form as a year 12 though.
