Which Durham college? Intl student worried about vacations

I’m an international incoming undergraduate at Durham University, looking for a college with lots of student activities and a catered standard room with shared bathroom.

I’m considering putting Collingwood as my first choice. I’ve read that about two weeks before arrival, students are asked to state their preference between:
Standard rooms with shared bathrooms
En-suite rooms with private bathrooms.

If I request option (standard), is there still a chance I might be allocated to option (en-suite)?

I’ve also read that en-suite students at Collingwood are required to vacate their rooms during both the Christmas and Easter vacations, which would force me to either pay for expensive hotel accommodation or return to my home country during these periods. Is there any indication that international students or first-years are given priority for standard rooms to avoid this issue?

I expect to return home for Christmas, but I definitely need to stay in college during the Easter vacation. Given this risk, do you think it’s unwise to choose Collingwood as my first preference?

I also considered St Cuthbert’s Society (Bailey site), but I read that even Bailey students may be asked to vacate their rooms over Easter, so I decided to avoid putting it as my top choice. Since Bailey is catered and Parson’s Field is self-catered, I also don’t want to be assigned to Parson’s if I choose Bailey. How likely is it that students who request Bailey will still be placed at Parson’s?

Lastly, since no meals are provided during vacations, I’d prefer a college that has a kitchen or at least a pantry. But even for colleges like St Aidan’s, is it possible that some buildings or corridors have no kitchen facilities at all?

Any advice or insight would be really appreciated. Thank you!
