What did everybody put for the question about positive correlations between gdp and the diffrent stuff, the 3 marker?? Really threw me off

Some of it was easy , some of it ehhhh. Thought migration was fine. Volcano question threw me off a bit as we did monserrat and i started talking about exclusion zones and northern redevelopment

did you talk about the migrants or the country in the migration case study? a lot of people interpreted the question differently

That was a relatively simple one. Positive, negative and no correlation like you learn in Maths. I remember tourism was no correlation, and I think adult literacy rates was positive but I don't remember the last one.

This is a controversial one, but for me, it was quite clear. It was positive effects of migration on the HOST country, the one accepting migrants. In the Mexico-USA case study most students learnt, you had to talk about the USA, but you could make reference to Mexico specific examples. Anyone who talked about push or pull factors, especially push factors, are likely to receive no or low credit here unfortunately.

This is exactly what I did. This with appropriate PSI and development will definitely score 7

What was the general consensus on Theme B? I did both tectonics and nat veg as I had plenty of time, but while I think tectonics overall was easier, the 7 marker was strange and has never come up before, so most students had not learnt it. I just had to have a go with Monserrat. Hoping for 5.

Did people get Lianas, Buttress Roots and Canopy for that [3] in nat veg climate?

yh, that's what I thought as well but a large percentage of people talked about impact on the migrants (pull factors of the country). I think they'll have to change the mark scheme to accommodate both.

why did you do both? they'll only mark the first question in the section if you wrote both

I don’t think so. My teacher who has previously marked for Cambridge said if you do both they take the higher mark forward.

really, that's pretty much the opposite of what the teachers at my school said

if you do both questions in a section, the first question will be marked and the second ignored. so if you do Q1 AND Q2, they mark Q1 and completely ignore Q2

Interesting, my teacher and Head of Geography for 20+ years at my school says there isn’t clear guidance so examiners will take the highest mark. I’m not sure.

I did the migration question using Ukraine-UK which I think was a lot better than Mexico-USA (clearer benefits) although my teacher was unfortunately very confident in her prediction that the topics of migration/TNCs would not come up, so I didn't revise those fully. I think the rest went really well though, and I knew the volcano and energy supply case studies really well. What is the general consensus on the question about hazards associated with volcanoes?

I wasn’t sure which angle to take on that question. Were they looking for magma/ash/pyroclastic flow etc. or how the hazards are impacts, so all the basics (loss of life/agriculture/infrastructure/houses etc), so I mentioned both.

Yeah, it only occurred to me afterwards to mention the impact on global warming/climate change, but I did talk about the secondary effects such as unsanitary camps + waterborne diseases
